Some of you probably think it’s so lame to put sentimental value on products, goods, whatever. But I do it. & quite often.
After leaving my very awesome full-time gig to pursue writing, my (even more) awesome (ex) bosses gave me a generous gift card to Holt Renfrew. I had to exercise all my will power to not run into that store and spend it on something right away, I knew that I wanted to use it for something special–something that marked my bosses’ encouragement for this new chapter in my life and that celebrated my risk-taking.
A couple of months after this, I found myself at the Holt Renfrew Cafe on a rainy week day, and briefly caught up with my friend Irene. (“Found myself” because how often do you not get lost inside your own head and then naturally and subconsciously head over to Holts?) Everything inside the store was so beautiful. But then, I saw Kate Spade‘s “Joie de Vivre” necklace. And honestly? Immediate butterflies. Not to mention, it was the last one they had, so it was meant to be.
It was exactly what I needed, a daily reminder of the mantra: Joie de Vivre.
Joie de Vivre because I am pursuing my passion; Joie de Vivre because I have a partner, family, friends, and colleagues who are supporting me; Joie de Vivre because you can never have enough.
Here’s a photo of the necklace on my neck…it’s pretty awkward to photograph your own neck, but here it is!
